About the Thai typing race
Typing Race puts a fixed sixteen-word Thai passage in front of you and starts the clock on your first keystroke. What makes it a race rather than a stopwatch is the ghost: once you finish a run, your fastest attempt is recorded character by character and replayed alongside your next one, so you can watch yourself pull ahead of — or fall behind — your own best in real time.
The passage is built from the same frequency-ranked Thai word pool used across the rest of the site, so a race doubles as vocabulary practice on the words you will actually type most often. Physical keys map to the Kedmanee layout, which means any keyboard works without changing your operating-system settings, and nothing leaves your device unless you choose to post a time.
Racing a ghost is a sharper feedback loop than a bare number. A time tells you the result; a ghost tells you where you lost it — which word you hesitated on, where a correction cost you half a second. What is the ghost racing next to me?
It is a replay of your own fastest run on the same passage, reconstructed from the moment you reached each character. Until you finish a run there is no ghost to race — your first attempt sets it.
Why is the passage the same every time?
A fixed passage is what makes times comparable; a time only means something against the same text. You can shuffle to a random passage for practice, but only the standard passage is eligible for the leaderboard.
How is my time measured?
The clock starts on your first keystroke and stops when you complete the final character of the passage. Lower is better, and the global board ranks by time.
Do I need an account to race?
No. The race runs entirely in your browser and your ghost is saved on your own device. A free account is only needed if you want your time to appear on the global leaderboard.
