The daily challenge gives every typist the same five Thai passages for the day, drawn from a tokenised Thai Wikipedia corpus plus a growing pool of human-reviewed passages and sentences. The pick is seeded off the pool's contents and order with the date, so everyone who visits on the same day practises the identical set — and the trainer's Daily mode and this page build the pool through the same shared helper, so the two surfaces can never advertise different passages for the same day.
Type the day's set on the trainer in Daily mode and your result is scored in net words: one Thai word counts as four keystrokes, each error deducts ten words, and the total is divided by the minutes taken — never below zero. That deliberately heavy error penalty is why a fast run full of mistakes will not beat a steady, clean one. The board resets at 00:00 UTC, so there is a fresh race every day.
The challenge is a low-pressure way to build a daily habit. One short passage a day is enough to keep the Kedmanee layout in muscle memory, and watching your net-word score climb week over week is a clearer signal of progress than any single fast run. Passages sourced from Wikipedia carry their CC BY-SA attribution right under the text, so you always know where a passage came from.
Each day's set is selected from a tokenised Thai Wikipedia corpus plus human-reviewed passage and sentence pools, using the date as a seed so the choice is identical for everyone and changes once per day. Wikipedia items carry a CC BY-SA credit under the text.
One Thai word counts as four keystrokes and each error deducts ten words, divided by the minutes taken: (keystrokes ÷ 4 − errors × 10) ÷ minutes, never below zero. It is the score the leaderboard ranks, so accuracy matters as much as speed.
You can read and type the passages without signing in, but a score only reaches the public daily board from a signed-in session — the board needs a handle to display next to the result.
Every day at 00:00 UTC, on a fixed clock rather than a rolling window, so everyone's day starts at the same moment. A new day means a new passage set and an empty board.
